• Consider the characteristics of an effective academic researcher
• Think about how we can attain these characteristics
• Discuss some of the drivers for university research in the 21st Century
• Provide encouragement for you to plan your career development as a researcher.
The workshop will involve plenty of discussion and will be tailored to the interests and needs of participants.

A discussion session with lunch from 12:00-2:00pm

A chance for Early Career Researchers* to discuss issues surrounding their research career development and opportunities at the University of Northampton. The discussion will consider such questions as 'how can you develop as an effective researcher', 'what is stopping your development', 'what can the university do to help you develop as a researcher'. The aim will be to develop a programme of support for ECRs for the coming academic year.

*We define Early Career Researchers (ECRs) as those members of University staff starting out on their career whose work role involves a substantial amount of research.
